time flies when you’re overworked!

Posted by Trey on November 11, 2006

I haven’t died, I’m still here! :)

The craziness of Stage Door, Homecoming Week/Rally, Homecoming Dance, and Choir Concert auditions (plus not to mention the millions of term projects and tests that are upon me) have temporarily taken over my life.

Stage Door was amazing. I didn’t realize how much I truly loved it until it was all over. For months, we’d all been complaining about the long rehearsals and the little stupid things that bothered us, but then we stepped out on that stage, the lights came on, and it was over. Truthfully, none of us really loved the show until after preview night on Wednesday. We got such great feedback and reactions (well, for the most part, but that’s a long story) that it made us fall in love. I met some amazing people and it’s an experience I wouldn’t give up for anything.

Immediately following the after-theatre experience came Homecoming Week. As I told Jill, “Being on Class Council during Homecoming Week sucks. The end.” It’s true. It’s fun, but it’s true. See, when you’re not on Class Council, you can work on whatever task you have before you and that’s all you really need to worry about. On Class Council, you have to worry about everything. Seniors pulled it off though and finally won the spirit trophy. We also finally got first place in Decorations–after three years of hard work! The Rally was definitely the best one ever. Just proves how awesome Senior Year is so far, huh?

The dance was fun too, probably the most fun I’ve had a Homecoming Dance. Mainly because the stag petition was passed for Seniors and I got to spend the evening with Janelle, Rosa, and Cortney too. The pre-HC dinner was fun because we got to be as loud as wanted and talk about whatever we wanted which, if you know my friends, is always a plus. Then the after-HC sleepover with my girls made life so much better, Twister and forts included.

No, my high school experience does not sound normal. Yes, I don’t care :D

This past Thursday I went through two Christmas Concert auditions–one in which Cort and I played a piano duet for Crash and her sister (“The First Noel”, with Pachelbel’s Canon in D) and the other with “My Grown-Up Christmas List”. I had arranged that song over the summer by writing in the harmonies and most of the accompaniment. I played piano and sang with Cort, Rosa, and Harnoor. Fingers crossed now! (I’ve got one more audition coming up on Tuesday for a small solo in a quartet in one of Chamber Choir’s pieces.)

The majority of the pictures from all of this are on MyPhotoAlbum. I’ve still got some pictures left to upload, but that will be coming soon, so hold your horses!
